Engineering Manager

To effectively manage the engineering function at site level across the factory. Delivering a full maintenance programme to achieve manufacturing KPI’s, driving business efficiency and customer service. Member of the Operations Team reporting into the Head of Operations. Based at Warrenpoint, Newry, Northern Ireland. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Three years of management experience in an FMCG, chilled environment.

Qualified to a minimum of HNC level in an engineering discipline.

Proven experience of online preventative maintenance software.

Proven management experience of a maintenance team.

Budget control of capital and maintenance to £3m.

Apprenticeship trained and tested.

Experience in dealing with external service providers, and regulatory bodies.

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced changing environment whilst proven experience of objective delivery.

DUTIES

Ensure an environment and culture of safe working practices are understood and maintained, by personally demonstrating safe behaviour and taking responsibility for the setting and management of health & safety of engineering staff and contractors.

Ensure that Health and Safety risk assessments are completed and actioned.

Organise and monitor compliance with statutory and Deli-Lites Health and Safety requirements across the whole site.

Plan, agree and monitor maintenance expenditure to deliver targeted levels of plant performance within budget.

Ensure engineering spares and consumables are procured and managed to meet engineering and production needs at minimum cost.

Manage and control engineering costs, overheads, and overtime expenditure in line with budget.

Produce a monthly report of performance against budget / KPIs for engineering on site which is presented at the monthly operations meeting.

Attend the daily operational review meeting to ensure effective communication of planned maintenance, engineering, and production priorities.

Put in place and manage a planned preventative maintenance programme with the objective of maximising operational efficiencies.

Ensure awareness and provision of training in a range of preventative maintenance techniques to deliver engineering performance targets.

Continually measure engineering performance against budget cost standards and drive a culture of continuous improvement across all production lines including a constant review of automation projects to reduce labour costs and improve operational efficiencies.

Manage all agreed capital expenditure projects ensuring they are adequately planned, resourced, procured, managed, and implemented successfully delivering the required return on investment (ROI)

Plan and control maintenance of utilities to ensure agreed availability and drive efficiency improvements within budgeted cost.

Ensure all required customer standards are achieved and maintained.

Recruit, manage and motivate the engineering team as a first line manager via coaching, regular meetings, mentoring, training, and leadership-by-example. Set and monitor KPIs for the team.

Initiate, agree, and review succession, training, and development plans to ensure an appropriate balance of internal and external skills to deliver engineering team performance at optimum cost and meet all legalities to always ensure safe working practices.
