Health and Safety Coordinator

Responsible for the administration of the Health and Safety documents including but not limited to: policy register, Risk Assessment register ensuring the organisation has up-to-date health and safety policies and procedures in place. Liaising with the Health and Safety Manager when risk assessments are up for renewal. They set safety standards for their workplace based on legal requirements and train employees to help them understand these rules. Safety coordinators also monitor working conditions and resolve any safety issues that may arise.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Other languages i.e. Bulgarian.

Experience in this type of role or similar.

Ability to follow instructions provides support as required to members of the health & safety team. Appreciation and understanding of confidentiality and able to understand and be sensitive to diversity and equality.

Attention to detail to identify inconsistencies in documents such as reports.

Organised and able to meet tight deadlines with excellent time management skills.

Flexible in approach with ability to respond to changing pattern of demand at work which can be unpredictable and unplanned, requiring constant shifts in priority.

DUTIES

Putting Health and Safety and Food Safety first in all decisions.

Provide administrative services to the health and safety department in accordance with applicable organisation policies and practices, referring to Line Manager as appropriate.The general administration services to the team include filing, data entry, typing and assisting in the management of communications and paperwork, managing diaries, looking after contractors duties.

Assist H&S Manager to make improvements and implement required changes.

Assist H&S Manager to liaise with external agencies relation to health and safety matters.

Reporting (content and format as agreed) on a monthly basis or as otherwise required.

Achieve agreed personal targets and assist Line Manager to achieve team targets.

Ensure compliance to applicable codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety standards.

Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work.

Conduct daily safety checks on operations areas and to report on findings.

Monthly visits to external storage areas.

Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to H&S Manager

Meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole

Leading and maintaining H&S trainings

Conducting behavioural audits

Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures

Interact and co-operate with all members of the organisation, its suppliers and clients/customers, including consultancy on PPE requirements and wellbeing.

Processing accident forms.

Ensuring contractor’s safety- Inductions and compliance documents.

Providing guidance and assistance to all within business but especially at nights.

From time to time, you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.
