Technical Manager

As Technical Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that each of the Deli Lites manufacturing sites produce safe, legal, authentic and high quality foods to specification whilst maintaining standards in budget control and customer satisfaction.

This is a Senior Management role and has the following direct reports; Quality Manager and two Technical Administrators.

You will work closely with other departments including Manufacturing, NPD, Compliance and Sustainability, Logistics, Procurement and Sales Orders to provide a holistic service to our internal and external customers.

Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary Technical teams in a food manufacturing environment.

Experience in effective BRCGS and Retailer Audit management.

Effective and proven project management skills.

Strong people and time management skills.


Putting Staff Welfare and Food Safety first in all decisions.

Retailer and BRCGS Audit Management.

Food Specific Legal Compliance.

Compliance to customer requirements and standards.

Service Supplier Management.

Keeping up to date and Horizon scanning for food safety and legality concerns.

Facilitate the day-to-day Technical Management of ingredient approval, food production and distribution.

Lead the HACCP Team.

Management of a large multidisciplinary team within the Technical Department.

Lead the Technical Function to ensure they are engaged and high performing with a focus on problem solving and team work.

Lead and manage the Quality functions on site.

Manage the resolution and close out of issues/incidents which have been escalated.

Identify and implement Best Practice within the Technical function to help facilitate business improvements.

Accountable for ensuring that new products and processes are introduced to site that are safe, legal and compliant with customer requirements and on time.

Develop and maintain a positive proactive relationship with key retail and export customers.

Chair monthly technical meetings.

Set and report on relevant KPI’s and objectives.

Work closely with the production team to achieve best results for food safety and efficiency.

Ensure all product specifications are continually reviewed and in line with customer requirements, agreed brand standards, operational capabilities and agreed cost standards.

Drive Lean Manufacture, standardisation, and continuous improvement across the Technical team.

Work closely with and facilitate the Business Support and IT functions of the site to introduce Digital transformation to Technical administration.

Contribute to the culture team and help to create an environment where we retain our teams and nurture them to be the best versions of themselves at work.
