Barbara is one of the key puzzle pieces that keep DELI LITES running smoothly. As the Key Account Manager, she maintains strong relations and develops solutions for our customers across our Fresh and Chilled product ranges. Here’s a little about Barbara and her role.
I hail from Edinburgh originally and moved over here after meeting my now-husband at university over 20 years ago. I’m a real foodie at heart – Sourdough is my new passion that I discovered in the first lockdown! I love to keep fit, keep up with nutrition and food trends. I have worked for DELI LITES for just over 4 years. It has been a fantastic journey of growth. In my role, I maintain healthy and positive partnerships to deliver steady progression for both DELI LITES and the clients. From the opening of the state-of-the-art Innovation Hub, I’ve been involved with the first frozen exports to the UK and the rebrand of the DELI LITES range. I love to do tasting sessions with customers and seeing them get excited about the flavour profiles we create through our unique and innovative new product development process. Bringing the products to life and eventually to market gives me great job satisfaction.
I have had so many great memories here! One that sticks out is the LUNCH! 2018 event in London. There was such a buzz around the stand and we did not stop the entire time that we were there. Being in a small team allows you to get so much exposure to the inner workings of the business. I believe this is what makes us distinctive. We are all truly passionate about what we do and are given development opportunities and support to be bold and approach things from a different angle. I knew the guys were looking to develop a S’mores based product. I started thinking about different ideas as my kids love S’mores and we make them on the beach in the summer (what BBQ is complete without them?). We didn’t have cookies and I knew this was a flavour profile that would be popular. When I brought it down to the Innovation Hub for the team to try I was so nervous – but it passed and the rest is history! A prime example of how life at DELI LITES is never dull, you are always allowed to bring anything to the table! If I were to choose one product, I would have to say the Salted Caramel Brownie would be my favourite. Definitely to be enjoyed in a quiet moment with a really good cup of coffee.
